The Keyhole! 18+ very scary!

Just rediscovered this little gem on Yahoo! Answers. Spooky stuff!

A man went to a hotel and walked up to the front desk to check in. The woman at the desk gave him his key and told him that on the way to his room, there was a door with no number that was locked and no one was allowed in there. Especially no one should look inside the room, under any circumstances. So he followed the instructions of the woman at the front desk, going straight to his room, and going to bed. The next night his curiosity would not leave him alone about the room with no number on the door. He walked down the hall to the door and tried the handle. Sure enough it was locked. He bent down and looked through the wide keyhole. Cold air passed through it, chilling his eye. What he saw was a hotel bedroom, like his, and in the corner was a woman whose skin was completely white. She was leaning her head against the wall, facing away from the door. He stared in confusion for a while. He almost knocked on the door, out of curiosity, but decided not to. This disinclination saved his life. He crept away from the door and walked back to his room. The next day, he returned to the door and looked through the wide keyhole. This time, all he saw was redness. He couldn't make anything out besides a distinct red color, unmoving. Perhaps the inhabitants of the room knew he was spying the night before, and had blocked the keyhole with something red.

At this point he decided to consult the woman at the front desk for more information. She sighed and said, "Did you look through the keyhole?" The man told her that he had and she said, "Well, I might as well tell you the story. A long time ago, a man murdered his wife in that room, and her ghost haunts it. But these people were not ordinary. They were white all over, except for their eyes, which were red."

Holy sh** that was scary!

What makes a good horror story?

What makes a good story?

The answer to this question is...it depends.Obviously, some people like horror stories, some like romance, some like fantasy etc. etc. and the list goes on. However, I think that all people enjoy stories that they can relate to. If you have ever fantasized about exploring your school at night, or fighting medieval dragons, or even killing zombies non-stop, your best bet is to choose a story that best satisfies these fantasies. I, for one, always enjoyed the thought of exploring a place that you have known for a very long time (e.g. school, workplace, home etc.) and discovering people and/or places that had never known about before.
The notion of having an unknown world within one so familiar to me really got my imagination started and I began to enjoy stories like never before. I even went as far as to write my own story about the said topic and  rumor has it that it is very popular in certain parts of the internet.
Once again, people can still enjoy stories that have no possible relation to themselves or to their wildest dreams, but if you want to enjoy a story to its fullest, my recommendation is to rediscover an old childhood fantasy and find a good story that satisfies it. Have you ever thought of spending a day riding around your city on trains or buses? Have you ever wanted to climb a building and jump from roof to roof in a Spiderman-esque fashion? If the answer is yes, find a story that appeals to these thoughts.
In regards to horror stories, I feel that these are the easiest kind of story to be interested in. There are so many opportunities for an element of terror or mystery to be incorporated into an everyday situation. You could be walking around your house, alone, only to discover that there is a paranormal being living in the walls. You could be travelling to work/school one day only to be trapped in the car park by a psychotic killer. The possibilities are endless!
In conclusion, I feel that the best stories are those that you have fantasized about. For the best experience, one should snuggle up warmly in a blanket on a cold, snowy day and find a book that reignites childhood memories. The atmospheric, virtual feeling that this creates is incomprehensible, and in order to experience it, you should try it yourself
